At Laser Cladding Nordic, we specialise in extending the lifetime, performance, and reliability of critical industrial components through advanced Laser-Powder-Cladding technology. This FAQ section brings together the most common questions we receive from customers in the Maritime, Offshore, Energy, Manufacturing, and Heavy Industry sectors.
If you have a question that is not covered here, you are always welcome to contact our team—we are ready to help you find the best solution for your specific challenge.
We primarily support the Maritime, Offshore & Energy sector, Manufacturing, Heavy Industry and mining sectors. Our solutions are designed for environments where reliability, uptime, and component lifetime matter most.
We repair and extend the lifetime of critical components through laser cladding, repair, and surface enhancement. Our focus is on reducing downtime, improving performance, and offering a cost-effective alternative to replacement.
Yes. We operate as part of the Laser Cladding Group, with partner facilities in Germany, Singapore, Austria and Japan, ensuring global competence and consistent high standards.
Laser cladding is a precision welding process where we add a new metallic layer to a worn or damaged component. The low heat input ensures minimal distortion and a strong metallurgical bond for long-term durability.
We work with a wide range of alloys, including Inconel, Stellite, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys, bronze and more. Material selection depends on base material, wear, corrosion, or required properties for the application in use.
Typical components include shafts, bearing journals and bores, propulsion parts, hydraulic piston rods, valve components, and other rotating or structural parts. If you’re unsure, you can always send a photo or drawing for evaluation.
The material bonding is 100% and extremely strong and offers outstanding wear, corrosion, and temperature resistance. In general, the repaired component performs equal to or better than the original.
Yes. We provide full machining to bring the component back to its original dimensions and tolerances. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.
Laser cladding is ideal when replacement is costly, slow, or impractical. It reduces downtime, extends component lifetime, and often results in a stronger, more resilient surface.
Not always. If the base material is too compromised, repair may not be viable. We typically ask for photos, material data, and dimensions before confirming feasibility.
Yes. We assess the component’s condition and provide guidance on the best repair method or whether replacement is required.
Yes. We can perform repairs on board vessels or at customer facilities. You can read more about our On-site services here.
This depends on the workshop setup and machining requirements. Please contact us with measurements, and we will advise based on the specific project.
Lead time depends on material, preparation, machining, and complexity. Typical repairs range from a few days to a couple of weeks.
Pricing is based on material, labour, machining, layer thickness, and complexity. No two components are the same, so each project is individually assessed.
Yes. Once we have the necessary information, we provide a clear and transparent quotation.
We typically need:
Transport can be arranged depending on size and location. Otherwise, customers can deliver directly to our workshop in Frederikshavn.
A clean or partially as best cleaned component is helpful, but not required. We handle full preparation in-house.
Yes — especially where downtime is critical. Contact us to confirm availability.
Yes. We work according to approved welding procedures and provide documentation when required.
Certificates can be supplied for both laser cladding materials and machining processes on request.
Our warranty terms are governed by our official Terms and Conditions of Sale and Delivery. These conditions outline the contractual basis for all services, including liability limitations and customer responsibilities.
